Craps.com has Online Casino
Casino Film Story
Scorsese. It is based on the book of the same name by Nicholas Pileggi
and Larry Shandling. Robert De Niro stars as Sam "Ace" Rothstein, a
chain-smoking top gambling handicapper who is called by the Mob to
oversee the day-to-day operations at the fictional Tangiers Casino in
Las Vegas. The story is based on Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal, who ran the
Stardust, Fremont and the Hacienda casinos in Las Vegas for the
Chicago Outfit from the 1970s until the early 1980s.
Joe Pesci plays Nicky Santoro, based on the real-life Anthony "Tony
the Ant" Spilotro, an intimidating enforcer and psychopath. Santoro is
sent by the Chicago Outfit to Vegas to make sure that money from the
Tangiers is skimmed off the top and that the casinos and mobsters in
Vegas are kept in line. Sharon Stone plays Rothstein's wife, the
self-obsessed, spoiled, devious and sly Ginger, a role that earned her
a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and an Academy Award nomination
for Best Actress.
When released, Casino had the most uses of the word "fuck" (422) in a
feature length film[1], but was surpassed two years later by the film
Nil by Mouth [2] though it remains the highest number of uses of the
word in an American film that is based on a true story.

Slot Machine Etiquette
Machine Bangers
The machine banger is the player who pounds or slaps the spin button with such force that it vibrates the machine. The other players can usually hear the “slapping” sound three rows away. It’s almost as if they think the spin button is activated by sound and the louder they slap the more the credits the machine will pay.
Machine Beaters
The machine beater is similar to the machine banger only they play with much more anger. Instead of using an open hand they will beat the spin button with a clenched fist. A losing spin is likely to provoke an occasional kick to the base of the machine or a slap to the front display panel of the machine. This may be accompanied by enough profanity to make a sailor blush. As with the machine banger you can only hope that they will wear themselves out or sustain an injury causing them to go away seeking medical help for their injuries.
The Lounger
The lounger is the player who uses the shelf in between the machines as a foot rest. The player will lean back in his seat and prop his dirty boot or shoe up on the ledge. Any drink glasses or ash trays that may have been on the edge are likely to topple over which of course will be ignored. After a few hours of play if they player experiences cramping in the leg they are likely to fully extend it and place it on the seat of the adjacent machine. If asked nicely the player may remove the leg to allow another player to use the unoccupied machine. Leg removal may be accompanied by a grunt, sigh or other expression of inconvenience. With any luck this may force them to go seek a more comfortable location such as the booth in the coffee shop or bench in the bus lounge.
The Talker
This player wants to talk to you as you play. They want to know where you are from where you are staying and many other personal questions that you may not want to answer. Ignoring them or grunting short answers in hopes that they will take a hint to leave you alone may prompt the opposite response. They will then launch into a monologue telling you their life story or all about their latest winning or losing streak. If pretending not to understand the language they are speaking does not deter them you might have to resort to ear plugs.
The Novice
The novice player will usually sit next to you when you are playing video poker. They usually haven’t got a clue as to which game they are playing let alone which cards to hold. Instead of learning the game first or bringing a strategy card with them, they find it much easier to lean over and ask you how to play a hand. Usually the quickest way to dispatch this player is to advise then to throw away that winning pair of jacks and draw to the inside straight. Hopefully they will leave after a run of bad luck depletes their money supply.
Group Players
Group players can be extremely rude and annoying because you are dealing with more than one of them. One person actually plays the machine while the others cheer them on. The group is loud and noisy and they jump up and down and scream at the smallest win. This would not be so bad but in the crowded area they tend to bump into you or your chair as you try to enjoy your own game. It is not only distracting but it can be very annoying if they are too boisterous or loud. Sometimes you will find “friends” of players sitting in the seats of the machines on either side of the player even though they are not playing. Sooner or later one or two of the group will become bored and force the big player to take the entourage to look for other excitement.
The Smoker
When I sit down to play a machine I scout out the area first to make sure I am not sitting next to a smoker. If I see a smoker I will not sit down as they were their first and I don’t want to deal with their smoke. Many smokers don’t extend the same courtesy in return. They will sit down next to you and move the ash tray to the space between your machine and theirs even if the machine on the other side is unoccupied. No matter how good the ventilation system is in the casino the smoke will always flow directly to the non smoker. Fanning the air with your hand in hopes of pushing the smoke away from you usually goes unnoticed. A portable fan or better yet a mini leaf blower may get their attention but will just result in ugly stares as if you were the offending party fouling the air. The worst of the smokers are the ones who feel that coin tray can also be used as an ash tray. Unfortunately the only way to get away from the smoker is to leave. After all the smoke doesn’t bother them, so why should it bother you.
I’m sure none of the About.com readers would fall into any of these categories of offense behavior and hopefully the next time you go to the casino take you won’t encounter any of these types of players.
Have Fun!

History of the Kino game
Three thousand years ago in China, the country was straining under the financial and emotional strain of a very costly war. In the many villages of the extraordinarily large country, the villagers refused to pay for anymore weapons or supplies for the war. A man named Cheung Leung decided he had to raise the money to fight the war, so he made up the game, hoping it would catch on and he could sell tickets to buy the much-needed supplies for the soldiers. His plan worked brilliantly.
The original game that Cheung invented was similar to today"s Keno in that it had 80 choices to pick from. The difference is that today we pick from 80 numbers, but back then they picked from 80 characters that were based on a very popular poem called the 1000 Characters poem. It is rumored that the game started with 120 characters, though this, like much of history so old, is unconfirmed. The game was sometimes referred to as the White Pigeon Game, because carrier pigeons were used to send the results from village to village, since roads at the time were scarce or poorly routed.
The game came to the US during the railroad boom in the 1800s. As railroads were being built along the newly-settled West coast of the United States, many Chinese immigrants came to work on them and settle there. In doing so, they brought much of their culture, including Keno. In fact the game was so much a part of the new Chinese-American fabric that it was known as the "Chinese Lottery" for years.
Though the casino operators in Las Vegas heard about the popular game in the early 20th century, they actually could not legally begin to offer the game in their city. The reason- gambling was completely legal, but lotteries were not. So some casinos changed the name from "Chinese Lottery" to "Race Horse Keno", replacing the numbers with race horses. When track betting was banned, they simply changed the name to Keno, and the name has stuck.
Online Keno Strategy
- Decide if you want to win a large amount of money once or twice, or small amounts over several games. This will play hugely into your strategy.
- If you wish to win bigger amounts, you will want to place a larger bet on a smaller number of games. For instance, if the minimum bet is $1, you may want to place several dollars on a game, that way your payout is much larger if you win. You will also have to pick the max amount of numbers, as this is the only way to get the large jackpot.
- If you wish to simply have more playing time and don't necessarily care if you win the huge jackpot, you can pick fewer numbers. Doing so makes it easier for you to hit 100% of your numbers, thus ensuring a payout. However, the amount will be small, as your payout is proportional to the number of picks you made. Also, you would bet a smaller amount on each ticket, so that you can play more games. Your bankroll will last a whole lot longer this way.
- Realize that numbers in Keno are randomly generated. Therefore, just because a number has not come up for several games, it does not mean that the number will 'hit' the next time out. Technically speaking, a single number could never come up for dozens of games in a row because of the random number generators used at most casinos may simply never pick it.
- If your online casino offers free practice games, it is advisable to take advantage of this, as it can help you get a feel for the game and ensure you do not make a mistake in picking your numbers.
- Play for fun only. This is good advice for any game of chance. If you play expecting to win, you will be sorely disappointed, as big wins in Keno are rare. Play for fun and without expectations of winning, and you will then be pleasantly surprised if you do win.
- Decide on a bankroll and stick to it. Whatever amount of money you decide on, do not spend more than that. If you do, it will likely only lead to further loses.

Hitting a Slot Machine Jackpot
Many players dream of hitting a big jackpot when they play the slots but some are not sure of exactly what happens when they do win. They also have questions about the taxes they must pay on their winnings. Here is a look at what happens when you hit a jackpot on the slot machines.
Hand Paid Jackpots
When you hit the winning combination of symbols for a large jackpot your slot machine will lock up. Depending on the machine any of the following will happen: The lights on top of the machine will come on and start flashing, music will start playing or bells will ring and their might be a message across the screen reading “call attendant.” In most casinos and electronic signal is sent back to a central monitoring room and they are aware that a large jackpot was hit.
On smaller jackpots under $5,000 an attendant will come by and verify that you did hit the jackpot and then get your money. In the case of a larger or progressive jackpot they may have technicians come and check the machine to certify that it was functioning properly when the jackpot hit. If you hit one of the wide are progressive machines such as MegaBucks the slot companies that operate the game will come out and verify that machine before giving you a check.
When you hit a jackpot you have the option of taking your winnings in cash or check. Usually very large amounts will be paid by check. In the case of the MegaBucks or similar multi-million dollar jackpots, you will be paid a check for the partial amount and then you have 90 days to decide if you want to be paid a lump sum or an annual annuity on the balance.
IRS Reporting
All casino winnings are subject to federal taxes however the IRS only requires the casinos to report any wins over $1,200 on slot and video poker machines or other games such as keno, lottery or hose racing. When you have a win equal to or greater than $1200, you will be issued a W-2G form. This form lists your name, address and social security number. The casinos are not required to take out withholding tax on jackpots under $5,000 as long you supply your social security number. If you don’t provide your social security number the casinos will withhold 28 percent on smaller jackpots.
You can request a specific amount of withholding tax to be taken out on any jackpot you win. Some player like to do this to avoid a big tax payment in April when the file their income tax returns. The additional withholding may not be necessary if you keep a log book.
The law allows you to deduct gambling loses up to the amount of your winnings. You can only do this if you have documentation of your losses. Keeping a diary or logbook, is the way to do this.
Proper Identification
The casino will require proper identification before you are paid your jackpot. U.S. casinos can refuse to pay you until you produce proper identification. Your identification must have your photo on it. You can use a driver’s license, Military ID or passport. As a rule of thumb, if it were able to board an airline flight with the ID then it will be valid in the casino to claim your jackpot.
If you don’t produce an ID you will be photographed and the casino will hold your winnings until you come back with proper ID. This is the reason you should always carry a valid form of identification with you when you visit the casino.
When the casinos check your identification they will also be checking your age to make sure you are legally old enough to be playing. The minimum age for gambling varies from State to State but under age gamblers will not be paid if they hit a jackpot. This is the law in all jurisdictions and it has been upheld in the courts.
Plan Ahead
Before you start playing your favorite slot machines you should have a plan for what you will do when you hit a jackpot. Players get very excited when the hit the big one and this may affect the decisions they make about their winnings. It will be helpful if you know ahead of time how much withholding you want taken out or if you want a check for all or some of the amount. Regardless what decisions you make, don’t forget to bring your ID with you when you play.
